LBS Collaboration at BWI receives recognition as ‘Best North American Airport of its size’

The 305th Air Mobility Wing’s Detachment 1 received recognition for helping Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in being named the best North American airport in its size category for the 2020 Airport Service Quality Awards.

Detachment 1 is a seven-member team from the 305th Aerial Port Squadron that works at BWI as contract officer representatives for United States Transportation Command.

The US Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) engaged LBS to serve the approximately 45,000 Department of Defense passengers who use BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport each year. The AMC BWI Passenger Gateway Terminal operation is manned and managed by a joint team of ProLog and LBS contract team members.  This team ensures the smooth transportation of approximately 45,0000 military members, their families and pets along with contractors and space available passengers annually through the international gateway at BWI.

According to Maj. Kaylee McLean, 305th Aerial Port Squadron commander, most personnel deploying to Central Command and members traveling to the United States European Command area of operations pass through the Detachment 1 gateway at BWI. This makes it the largest and busiest detached aerial port in Air Mobility Command.
