Naval Station Guantanamo Bay Power Plants & Distribution System

Scope

LBS is successfully operating three power plants with a total capacity of 35 MWs, a photovoltaic system of 1.2 MW and four wind turbines with 1 MW capacity at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay. Combined, we provide over 37 MW of total power generation capacity.  Additionally, we also maintain both 34.5 KV and 13.8 KV electrical distribution systems through Guantanamo Bay in support of over 6,000 personnel at the oldest overseas US Naval Base.  The electrical production and distribution systems are old and outdated and in the short period of time there, we have completely overhauled four (4) 2 MW EMD generators to include top end and center sections.  Finally, we are responsible for performing over 150 ship to shore connections per year when vessels visit the base.
